Cottage Garden
A cottage garden is usually an informal garden with a mix of colors, ornamental plants, herbs, and vegetables. These gardens are usually small, and the plants are densely packed. Due to these gardens being less formal and organized than a typical garden, they are less work to maintain. Plants are allowed to grow and spread to create natural patterns and flow. Plants selected for this type of garden are typically low maintenance, or irrigation systems are used to reduce the amount of work.
Structures and other decorative features can be added to your cottage gardens. Fences and trellises can be added to provide vertical space for climbing or trailing plants, and help block outside noise. Adding stepping stones, sitting areas, fountains, or paths can also create areas for you to relax and enjoy your garden.
